Been doing a bit more research on the current knife steels.. CPM S35VN is something that might be worth trying out. Thoughts?

It grinds easy. Its a bugger to sharpen when hardened. Holds a good edge. Not to expensive. I have been using a bit of it lately.

On the down side it needs cryo to get the full potential out of the heat treat.

My XM24 is S35VN and you need diamond stones to sharpen it. It takes a fantastic edge and holds it even cutting through cardboard quite a bit. The edge on mine is very fine now so will roll if hit with something hard.

I would be interested in buying some if you decide to get some mate (or if anyone has a spare piece lying around that they're willing to part with)...

I was looking at usaknifemaker if I was going to get it. They have precision ground stock which is handy. I have been having trouble finding precision ground CPM154. Part of the reason I started looking at other steels.
