Well finally got the first part off the lathe. It took 2 bolts, 3 broken cutting tool tips and about 10 hours. It aint pretty but it works

Now I can get back to the knife making on the weekend and do some more lathe work in the evenings

Had some time to hit the shed again today. There are always other things to do around this time of year. I ground out a blade today and got it all ready for heat treating. After that I wanted to try out the lathe a bit more so I had a crack at a fire piston. Not sure if it works real well yet. I don't have any char cloth to try in it but the lint from the drier certainly was burning up but couldn't get a good ember going.

I have another knife off getting heat treated at the moment so it looks like I will have plenty to keep me going over xmas.

That one I was working on has progressed a bit further today. I did the HT on it a while back so today it was cleaning up some the scale from HT, doing a spring temper on the springs, profiling the liners, milling the relief in the liners and gluing the scales on. I also got back from HT the other knife I would like to do over the xmas break. That one should be a fun build

In case I don't do another update before then have a Merry Christmas everyone.

I hope you have all enjoyed watching the construction of these knives over the year. I started a new thread for 2012 to show off all the new projects.
