First, everyone should try a sebenza, it's been a favourite of mine since I got one, so that makes it on my list easily.

Second, an Olamic Wayfarer, honestly it's a hell of a great knife. The tunable detent as well as a ramp on the tang that allows the detent ball to slide back up onto the side of the blade for smooth closing. I've left the detent as it arrived, it comes with a strong detent. It fires fast, shuts smoothly, it looks and feels great in hand.

Third, some sort of bush fixed blade. I've tried the BK2 and the Fallkniven S1, both are great and easy to sharpen in the field.

Edit: wait not everyone should have a wayfarer, it's a great sitting knife but it could be swapped out for some other folder that's a good hard use user. A Spyderco or ZT maybe.

The one problem I have with the top tier Falkniven, san mai Cold Steel, any $300-< fixed blade, Sebenza, any Hinderer, Reate, top tier WE, Rike and mid tech/customs is the price, for many people they are priced out of reach/comfortable threshold of spending. Only knife nuts (damn I wanted to type @KnifeKnut; ...LoL) will spend the $500+ to experience those top tier folders or fixed blades.
