Looking into Purchase Of Chris Reeve

    Hey Guys,

I'm currently looking into purchasing my first Chris Reeves. I'm leaning towards a Large Inkosi drop point.
The small seems a little too small on paper I almost feel like a midsize between the large and small would be perfect.
I'm also leaning towards the Inkosi simply because I prefer the look of it but I understand they are different knives and need to be felt in hand.
Which brings me to my next question.

Is there anyone that sells these in Australia other then Cutting Edge? Their prices seem right up there on some of their knives.
What would I expect to pay for a Large Inkosi roughly? And is there much of a second hand market in Australia? Or do I need to buy from the states?

If anyone is looking to sell here I'd be interested. Also have a few mint knives I'm looking to give up. A ZT 0550, Benchmade saddle mountain skinner, Spyderco PM2 Camo/DLC.

Much appreciate any info you guys can offer.

    Thanks

    Joel

Ceks prices are just fine on the crks... i bought a small inkosi insingo from the states and a regular blade version from cek and i think the cek one ended up being slightly cheaper. They're just expensive knives, the prices are the same across the board so you won't find some retailer selling them cheaper like you often will with other brands and the exchange here is dead so i wouldn't expect one to come up, it may but it might be a big of a time waiting for it to happen, although being dead they don't hold their value like they used to but people tend to withdraw before losing heaps of money because they're knives worth keeping... there is one at a good price in the exchange right now if you want a small 21 with inlays.... other than that i think if you want one you're gonna have to be prepared to spend some money

As far as i know cek is the only australian dealer - which is the good thing about cek, he can get things other places can't

I think but cant be bothered checking:
Small inkosis are 375 plain and add 100 for inlays
Large are like 450 plain and another 100 for inlays
    those are USD
I think the sebenzas are the same prices

This will be the same EVERYWHERE that sells crks!

Awesome Thankyou very much for that info.
Yeah I think with the exchange rate at the moment buying from the states is quite costly.

How did you find the small Inkosi? How were the ergonomics? It's quite a small knife I was concerned it would be a little too small in the handle.
You're not keen on selling either of them are you?

I much prefer the look of the plain Jane models. Don't like the look of the inlays but I'm sure they feel fantastic in the hand.

I already sold both hahah i tend to get bored quickly
I loved the smalls and the ergos worked for me, didnt slice as well as I'd like but did ok, but i also prefer a small folder in general, heaps of people like the large better, i want to try a large but i suspect it would be a bit big for me to carry and it's a pretty expensive thing to buy to find that out... guess it depends on the size of knife you usually carry

Yeah I reckon a Medium Inkosi/Sebenza would be the ducks nuts.

I really like my ZT0450 and wouldn't want to go much smaller then that.

From what I've read the ergo's on the small Inkosi can be hit and miss which is why people prefer the large Inkosi but small Sebenza.

Looks like I'm going to have to take the $700 gamble

    Appreciate your help and contribution.

Order is in. Gonna be a long wait! Wait til the Mrs see's the bank account

Still open to peoples experiences with Large vs small and any information anyone would like to share.

Edit: If anyone in or around Sydney wants to meet up to see what these are like in hand I'd be interested once mine comes in. Would love to feel a small model if anyone has one.

Probably should have waited till August and the Sydney Knife Show!
CEK had probably the second biggest table space after Gamco the last two shows, and he’d probably have the CRK’s you wanted to try on display. He even does ‘special show prices’ on some stuff.
Just word of warning, you’ll probably want to either sharpen the knife yourself or get it sharpened as CRK’s are sort of famous for crappy edge (doesn’t hold well from factory, seems that the convex slack belt edge very often affects the steel and makes it softer than it should be)

Hey Elof Thanks for the post. I thought about that myself and contacted them.
This was the information I got.

CEK - "All our CR orders are mostly pre sold, when our shipments arrive there almost gone"

My Response - "So does that mean very little will be available at Sydney Knife Show?"

CEK - "Yes very little if any!"

I remember them having a Small Inkosi 1-2 years ago but can't recall the price.

Thanks for info I'll consider having it professional sharpened so I can maintain it easily on my Sharpmaker

I prefer the large CRK, over the small. I prefer larger folders in general and find the small CRK just too small for me, I don't consider the large CRK a "large" knife either IMO
