Most of the money from the last knife I sold went towards a set of Hardness testing files, they arrived this morning from GAMECO.
I have some ferric chloride powder on back order, looking forward to playing with that

Also Im about to put the latest knife up for sale soon, but Im debating if I should do an auction instead ,given thats its the first "stamped Ironbark" knife.
Would an auction work ok here in the forum or is Instagram better suited for that?

Or would you prefer I just gave a set price?

EDIT.........I decided to sell at a set price

just excited about the first "stamped" IronBark knife, really looking forward to getting her in hand mate. I have to ask, the glow in the dark scales, do you have to activate them? How long do they last? etc etc

Yeah the scales will need to be in sunlight for a bit or use a flashlight to get the scales to glow..... Honestly not sure how long they will glow, but the brightness will slowly drop off then plateau for a few hours

Hey everyone been awhile since my last update.
The last few weeks have been a .......well the last few weeks have sucked balls to be honest but life goes on and we're all slowly getting back to our normal routines.

So since my last post I've completed two knives,a bushcrafter style and a fileknife for a mate who donated a heap of old Wiltshire and Nicholson files to me.

This Bushcrafter is made with 80crv2 and if im using the hardness tester files correctly its between 55-60 HRC,I feel like its closer to 60 so maybe 58-59 thats after tempering.
And the handle scales are some raw "Red Stringy bark"on black and white G10.

Brass pins and my own mosaic centre pin and lanyard tube.
I was bit disappointed with my pin placement for the first one,its too low and my mosaic pin is twisted just slightly too far around lol.
But i'm happy with my filework on this one,the more practice I get the more little refinements im learning to make

A super useful bit of info I learned from "Bonza Blade Tips" Youtube was to use double sided carpet tape on the scales when drilling pin holes, instead of mucking about with painters tape and super glue

Got some more done on the fileknife while waiting for glue to dry ect on the Bushcrafter

And while sanding getting ready for heat treat I decided at the last minute it needed a swedge or spearpoint not sure what to call it

More pics coming...Seems like ive used up my upload limit, guess its back to using Imgur or something

    Ok back to that fileknife

I tried to make the filework "S" pattern get smaller towards the ricasso

I had to resand the bevels because the tape I used was cheap and etched into the steel,After some advice from knifemakers on Instagram I ordered some Renaissance Wax from Gameco and good tape.
So from now on I'll put some wax on the blade before tape and should have no more problems
