Utility blade in D2 steel with desert ironwood scales

This is my slant on a small utility blade similar to a box cutter size.

Its my first blade in D2 and will be a good way to assess the heat treat is on point to use and abuse this in the shop.

Its a clip point with unsharpened swedge (my first crack at a swedge). All learning and once I round off the scales and put an edge on it I think it will be a good user.

I've been crook as a dog so not much making going on but this was a fun little project while recovering from the flu (for the second time in 3 weeks!!!)

Hope you recover from the flu.

On the upside, once you heat treat that little piece, the performance of the steel will make you very happy indeed. I have never made a D2 knife that I didn't love.

Man the edge on this thing is great. Shaves no hassles..... I'm really pleased with the character in the ironwood..

I always liked the small knives like these by bark river. Busse also has the game warden in a similar size...
