Finished this one for a client today, he's presenting it to his employee as a long service present. Engraving by Garry Mitton.

Here's a sturdy little camp utility made from brushed 52100 with Brazilian bloodwood handle and bead on a kangaroo lace lanyard. This handle shape is probably the most comfortable I've ever come up with.

    Both very nice my friend.
I like the Steel choice on both.
That camp blade would be good with a birds head Style handle too.
    Thanks for sharing

A simple and light (to carry) hunter/utility in AEB-L with red narra handle scales. Red narra is the trunk wood from the same tree that amboyna burl comes from.

I've been busy in the workshop knocking out commissions but did find time to finish off this long standing project. A right hand chisel ground sushi knife made from polished RWL34 with matching laser work on both sides and a handle of Camatillo. There's a small, hand filed shape/void in the ricasso. The laser work has been coloured with a blush of red automotive enamel to match the background colour of the rosewood.

I reckon the challenge isn't in making the knife, it's trying to get a good photo of the sod! Here's my first frustrating attempt, I'll have another go tomorrow when the light's better and I've calmed down a bit

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far my friend.
If it is going to be used for food prep. How practical is the automotive enamel, no concern of toxicity?
    Thanks for sharing.

that's a very good point you raise. I should have looked into that. I'll remove the paint and see if I can find a food safe alternative. Thanks for the heads up, I'm feeling pretty dumb. !!

A couple of random things because I'm not doing much in the shed at the moment. I'm spending a chunk of each day on the roof of the house building a fire fighting spray system, which will take a while yet.

Is this the biggest mouse I've ever seen,.. probably. Measured 23cm from tip of nose to tip of tail. And yes, that's a bit of cheese twistie, the most deadly bait.

Loquat time ! No fruit fly in South Aust so I get a fist full of these every time I walk passed the front door.
